Small-Signal Stability of Multi-Converter Infeed Power Grids with Symmetry

چکیده
Traditional power systems have been gradually shifting to power-electronic-based ones, with more electronic devices (including converters) incorporated recently. Faced much complicated dynamics, it is a great challenge uncover its physical mechanisms for system stability and/or instability (oscillation). In this paper, we first establish nonlinear model of multi-converter within the DC-link voltage timescale, from principle. Then, obtain linearized associated characteristic matrix, whose eigenvalues determine stability, and finally get independent subsystems by using symmetry approximation conditions under assumptions that all converters’ parameters their susceptance infinite bus (Bg) are identical. Based on these mathematical analyses, find whole can be decomposed into several equivalent single-converter small-signal solely determined simple converter connected an same Bg. These results large-scale analysis help understand such as renewable energy integration. As well, they expected stimulate broad interests among researchers in fields network dynamics theory applications.

The hydro turbine dynamics have a considerable influence on the dynamic stability of power system. In the study of dynamic stability, the system is modeled by the linear differential equations (small signal analysis). Small signal stability of power systems is needed in all conditions and only is dependent on the conditions of power system performance before commotion occurrence. This paper pr...
متن کاملComputing the Aperiodic and Oscillatory Small Signal Stability Boundaries in Modern Power Grids
This paper is devoted to exploring the aperiodic and oscil-latory small signal stability boundaries in the space of power system parameters. In practical terms, they restrict the domain where all power system operating points must be kept for stable operation. In the proposed technique, to trace these boundaries, the saddle node and Hopf bifurca-tion points are computed along a given ray (loadi...

This paper surveys the impact of large scale wind power integration on the small signal stability performance of the power systems. For this purpose, different factors concerning wind power generation such as wind power integration levels and wind power plant location are considered in the small signal stability assessment of a weak power system via modal analysis. The changes in the modal char...
